About

CAMPER GENERAL STORE

We believe in inspiration.

We hit the road in a VW Camper every year for a month meeting people, stores, gathering stories, ideas and materials.

We believe in designing with a story.

Our story started when we stumbled upon 20 bolts of unused denim from the 1970’s in the garage of a friend’s family. At the same time, we gutted and rebuilt a 1964 Santa Fe Camper Trailer with plans to create a mobile store.

Our denim pieces are distressed individually by hand. There's no dying...only resist processes and a whole lot of California sun!

Our other pieces are made with selvedge from one of the oldest mills in Japan and military canvas from India. Everything has a source and a story. Each piece is handcrafted and unique.

We believe in utility pieces.

Our pieces satisfy everyday needs. We keep the designs simple with clean lines.

We believe in sustainability.

We utilize sustainable processes whenever possible from saved water from everyday use to drying in the sun. We use every piece of the hyde by making zipper pulls from remnants from our bags. Our denim scraps become wall hanging.

We believe in local.

We make our products in Los Angeles.

We believe in community.

We host workshops and gathering in an effort to create community.
